The Lovers
Choice and values led this Facebook-first teaching on the sixth Major Arcana card.
Card six. A man and a woman stand in a garden under a great angel with wide wings and open hands. Behind the woman is an apple tree with a serpent coiled in it. Behind the man, a tree with twelve small flames. There's a mountain in the distance and the sun is out. It's a beautiful picture, and it's about more than romance.
Upright, the Lovers is yes, partnership, but underneath that it's a choice. The kind where two real options sit in front of you and you pick the one that matches what you actually value, not the one that looks better from the outside. In readings this card lands on crossroads as often as it lands on couples.
Reversed, something's out of line. A choice made for the wrong reasons, a conversation that keeps not happening, or a life that looks fine and doesn't match the person living it. The card doesn't scold. It just points at the gap.
Mine was turning down work that paid better because the hours would have eaten the evenings I was trying to build something else with. It looked like the wrong call on paper for about a year. It wasn't.
When did you last choose the thing that matched what you actually value, even though it wasn't the obvious pick?
